Premier League Kicks Off This Evening & Co. Football C'hips Resume

The new Premier League season begins tonight when Arsenal host Leicester at 7.45.

Jose Mourinho has confirmed Manchester United are in talks with Zlatan Ibrahimovic about signing for the second part of the season.

The 35-year-old scored 28 goals before a serious knee injury brought his season at Old Trafford to an end.

Mourinho confirmed ahead of the Premier League opener against West Ham that talks are under way.


Liverpool have reportedly rejected a transfer request from Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian forward earlier declared his desire to leave by e-mail.

Owners Fenway Sports Group issued a statement today saying no offers would be considered for the playmaker.

Barcelona have had a 90-million-pound bid rejected.

Coutinho is out of Liverpool's opening match of the season against Watford because of a back injury.

The Disputes Resolution Authority Tribunal has confirmed Waterford defender Tadhg De Burca's suspension will stand for Sunday's All Ireland semi final against Cork.

De Burca was suspended after receiving a red card in the quarter final win over Wexford for interfering with the helmet of Harry Kehoe.

The county Intermediate and Junior football championships resume this weekend. 

This evening in the Courtyard Hotel, Leixlip Intermediate, Ellistown play Monasterevin in Hawkfield at 7.30.

Tomorrow’s scheduled All Ireland U21 B hurling quarter final between Kildare and Armagh is off.  The northeners have given a walkover.

The county Camogie senior team was to play Wexford in Clane tomorrow in the Intermediate championship, but Wexford have conceded the game.
