The former Garda Station in Ballymore Eustace is being refurbished.
The station was among 139, including those in Kill and Dunlavin, closed at the height of the recession in 2009.
The station at Dunlavin is among six expected to be re-opened.
The facility in Kill houses a family support network service.
The Ballymore property was sold at auction in September.
A planning application has now been submitted to Kildare County Council by Dennis Dunne, seeking leave to extend the protected structure, and make changes to its internal lay-out.
KCC is scheduled to issue a decision on May 3rd.
The development description is as follows:
"The construction of a single storey rear extension to existing single storey rear element of existing detached two-story house, internal modifications, installation of 2 new windows to the west side elevation at ground floor level and all associated site works. The building is a protected structure under the Kildare County Development Plan 2017-2023 (ref: B29-43),
