Listen: Oireachtas Cttee Hears Homeless People Break Down In Tears In Local Authority Offices.

Homeless people are breaking down in tears and children are wetting themselves in local authority offices, because of the stress of the self-accommodation system.

Families in emergency accommodation can be told by a local authority to look for their own shelter and the council will pay for it.

The Oireachtas Committee on Housing and Homelessness, on which sits Kildare North Fine Gael TD, Bernard Durkan, has heard how it's adding untold stress to an already difficult situation.
