The closure of scores of post offices would be devastating for rural Ireland, according to the postmasters union.
There are 1,100 post offices in Ireland, of which 29 are in Kildare.
Up to 200 could close as part of a radical An Post restructuring plan.
The IPU held a protest at the GPO, calling for more services to be provided to post offices.
