There is disquiet in large proportion of Kildare's 5,800 commercial rate payers, many of whom have seen steep increases in rate demands.
Kildare County Council began issuing firms with with proposed valuation certificates on Friday.
The new valuation is based on rental values as at 30th October 2015 and will be used as the basis for levying rates from 2018 on-wards
Anecdotal evidence suggests a small proportion of firms are experiencing a reduction in rates, but most are being issued with increases.
