Kildare's planners have granted permission to plans to expand parts of the Newbridge Shopping Centre.
Castlebrook Investment wants the demolition of part of the existing shopping mall and restaurant area.
It wants to internally reconfigure some of the Dunnes Stores retail units, and add a 1,679 square metres extension.
The firm is also seeking planning permission for 417 new car parking spaces.
Kildare County Council has green-lit the project.
The development description is as follows:
(a) part demolition of existing shopping mall and
restaurant area structure (1,475sqm); (b) extension and
modification of licensed Dunnes Stores retail area
through amalgamation of adjacent shop units / toilet
area into store and new extension (1,679sqm) to provide
retail and ancillary café / restaurant floorspace (net retail
sales are - 6,426sqm); (c) renovation of remaining
shopping mall area to incorporate 4no. shop units
(338sqm) and an upgraded toilet block; (d) upgrading or
shopping centres elevations to include new centralized
mall entrance along car park elevation; (e)
reconfiguration of car park layout to provide 417 car
parking spaces; (f) new pedestrian covered walk-way &
trolley bays in car park; (g) replacement of existing
elevation signage; (h) provision of 2no. totem signs; and
(i) all associated ancillary site layout alterations and site
