13 contractors have expressed an interest in constructing the €60 million State Forensics Laboratory in Celbridge.
The deadline for this portion of the tendering process expired last week.
These are assessed with a view to inviting six contractors to tender in June/July for appointment towards the end of the year.
Enabling works are already underway on the site.
The lab is due to open in late 2019.
Kildare North Labour Representative, Emmett Stagg says the project is "vital in the battle against crime in the State as it will bring DNA processing up to International Standards."
