Kildare Minor Team vs Laois Named & Seán O'Brien Out of Pro 12

The Kildare minor football team to play Laois in the Leinster minor quarter final tomorrow in St Conleth’s Park at 3pm has been named.

In Goal, Aaron O’Neill Carbury

Full backs: Daniel Reilly, Clane; Mark Barrett, Ballymore Eustace; Lee Loughnane, Kilcock

Half backs: Adam Cronin, Naas; Niall O’Connor Sarsfields; Darragh Ryan, Sarsfields

Centre Field: James Carey, Carbury; David Kelly, Carbury

Half Forwards: Brian McDonnell, Sarsfields, Niall O’Sullivan, Maynooth; Findlay Nairn, Kilcock

Full Forwards: Shane O’Sullivan, Clane; Jack Cully, Carbury; Darragh Kirwan, Naas.

Louth have named two debutants corner back Kevin Carr and wing back Darren Marks in their team to play Wicklow in Parnell Park on Sunday.

Munster Rugby has confirmed the departure of Donnacha Ryan to Top 14 Racing Metro.

The Tipperary native, who has won 47 caps for Ireland, was not offered a renewal of his IRFU contract.

Francis Saili is also leaving; but, Ian Keatley and Jaco Tauite have signed new deals.


In the Pro 12 semi final this evening at 7.45, Leinster host Scarletts at the RDS.

Seán O’Brien has been ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Jockey Ryan Moore was wearing the silks of the Queen as the Michael Stoute-trained 11-to-4 favourite edged out High Jinx and St Leger winner Simple Verse for victory.

The five year old scrambled home down the stand rails to beat game former Leger winner Simple Verse by a neck with High Jinks a similar distance away third.

And Moore will be in action at Naas on Sunday, when the Group 1 winner Caravaggio will put his unbeaten record on the line when making his seasonal debut in the EMS Copiers Lacken Stakes.

Aidan O’Brien’s four-time winning colt will face eight rivals in the feature race on Royal Ascot Trial’s Day, with Moore aboard.

Among those in opposition are the Ger Lyons-trained Psychedelic Funk and Jessica Harrington’s recent Navan winner Khukri.


Today’s racing is in Cork from 4.45 and Downpatrick from 5.05.
