There's Been A Surge In The No. Of Gardai Stationed In Leixlip.

: 05/19/2017 - 17:16

There's been a surge in the number of Gardai stationed in Leixlip over the last year, but in decrease in the number of members appointed to Newbridge.

The Minister for Justice, responding to a parliamentary question by Kildare South Fianna Fáil TD, Fiona O'Loughlin, says there were 50 gardai stationed in Leixlip at the end of March.

That's up from 37 in April, 2016.

There was a reduction of seven gardai attached to Newbridge in that time-frame.

In all, there are 323 Gardai stationed in Kildare.

It means there is one garda for every 687 residents; its the lowest such ratio in the state.
