Kildare Plan for Leinster Final July 16th & Irish Clubs Get Tough Champions League/Europa Cup Draws.

: 06/19/2017 - 12:49

Kildare advanced to their first Leinster Final since 2009 with victory over Meath in Tullamore on Saturday night.

Kildare lead comfortably 1-10 to 4 points at half time. The Kildare goal by Cathal McNally mid way through the half..

Meath reopened strongly kicking 4 consecutive points to narrow the gap to 5 points, but Kildare regained the initiative and closed the game with a Daniel Flynn goal with minutes remaining,  to win by 2-16 to 0-13.

This evening’s Kildare Scoreboard will review the game with post match analysis by Peter McConnon and Johnny Doyle, and interviews with Cian O’Neill, Mark Donnellan, Eoin Doyle, Kevin Feeley, Cathal McNally, Fergal Conway, David Slattery, Paddy Brophy and Daniel Flynn.

Kildare will play either Dublin or Westmeath in the final on Sunday July 16th.

The Round 2A football qualifier draw was made today, first name at home on the weekend of July 1st/2nd:
Meath v Sligo
Laois v Clare
Mayo v Derry
Donegal v Longford

Sligo, managed by Kildare’s Niall Carew, might be forced to replay their All-Ireland qualifier against Antrim after it emerged they might have exceeded their quota of substitutions.

Sligo won the game by 22 points to 3-16 and are drawn to play Meath in Round 2 in Navan.

But, that game could be in doubt if it is shown that Sligo exceeded  the six-substitution limit at Markiewicz Park on Saturday last.
