Madrid Derby Champions League Semi Final; Sean O’Brien Out of Leinster’s Champions Cup Semi Final & Kildare Minor Team vs Carlow Named.

The draw for the Champions league semi finals is Real Madrid vs Athletico Madrid and Monaco vs Juventus.

This will be the fourth successive season the rivals have met in the competition.

Real won both the 2014 and 2016 finals against their foes from across Madrid.

Monaco and Juventus meet in the other semi-final.

The semi-final first legs will be played on May 2 and 3, with Real Madrid and Monaco starting at home in their respective ties.

The return fixtures will be played the following week.

Atletico have finished runners-up in the competition on three occasions, whereas Real's victory last year was their 11th in the competition.

The final will be Cardiff's Principality Stadium on June 3rd


Manchester Utd have drawn Celta Vigo in the Europa League semi final.  Ajax play Lyon in the other semi final.

First legs on May 4th.


Former England defender Ugo Ehiogu has died aged 44.

He had a cardiac arrest at Tottenham's training ground yesterday - where he worked as the club's under-23s coach.

In the SSE Airtricity league Premier division, leaders Cork City go to St Pats , second placed Dundalk are home to Bohemians.

Bray host Shamrock Rovers, Finn Harps play Drogheda, Limerick host bottom side Galway.

Sean O'Brien is out of Leinster's Champions Cup semi final clash with Clermont in Lyon on Sunday because of tightness in his hamstring.

Athy’s Joey Carberry is at full back for his 20th Leinster cap with Suncroft’s Fergus Mc Fadden winning his 150th cap and Isa Nacewa on the wings.

In the centre Robbie Henshaw and Garry Ringrose renew their partnership with Luke McGrath and Johnny Sexton in the half backs.

Conor Murray remains out injured for Munster ahead of their semi final with Saracens at the Aviva.

Tipperary's Jason Forde has been hit with a proposed two-match ban after clashing with Wexford manager Davy Fitzgerald during last Sunday’s Allianz Hurling League semi-final.

Tipp are not accepting the proposed ban will request a date with the Central Hearings Committee (CHC) to appeal.


The Kildare minor football team to play Carlow tomorrow at 1pm has been named.
