Listen: Kildare TD Says Minister Has Failed To Give Assurances On Job Security At Kilberry Plant.
The Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment is being criticised for "not being forthcoming" with assurances of job security for employees of Bord na Mona's Kilberry plant.
The Newbridge headquartered firm acquired a facility in Liverpool before Christmas, which will carry out functions similar to those undertaken in Kilberry.
This has created concern about the security of tenure of those employed at the Kildare plant.
The matter was raised in the Dáil with Minister Denis Naughten, by way of Topical Issues, by Kildare South Fianna Fáil TD, Fiona O'Loughlin.
The exchange may be heard here:
Thereafter, Deputy O'Loughlin issued a statement saying she was dissatisfied with the Minister's response.
However, the Minister has agreed to meet with Kildare South TDs, and their colleagues in the Laois constituency, to discuss the matter.
