On this morning's edition of 'Kildare Today', Fine Gael Senator for Longford, Micheál Carrigy, spoke with Clem Ryan about his worries that the midlands must not become "rust belt", following power plant closures.
Senator Carrigy says it's vital the area thrives, which can only happen with investment into infrastructure by government.
His comments come following the closure of power plants in Longford, Offaly and the decision to end peat production.
