Government’s COVID-19 Supports Announced for Various Kildare Towns

The first towns and villages to benefit from Government’s new COVID-19 supports as part of the enhanced town and village renewal scheme are announced today.

Funding is to help communities to shop, socialise and work safely in light of Covid-19 Pandemic.

Kildare South Fine Gael TD, Junior Minister Martin Heydon welcomed the funding for Kildare towns and Portarlington in Laois in recognition of the changes needed to support r local businesses and communities as they adapt to the new demands that Covid places on them all.

✅Kildare town €40,000
Removal of existing car-parking spaces in the Market Square to facilitate social distancing, recreational use by the community and, outdoor eating and queueing of patrons for businesses on the square.

✅ Lowtown Robertstown €25,000 to
support the establishment of a ‘Cycle Café’ to promote cycling and provide cyclists and cycling groups with a ‘pit stop’ in complement the developing Barrow Blueway.

✅ Monasterevin €25,000 to
Support for the School Street pilot scheme in Monasterevin

✅ Athy €25,000 to
Support for the School Street pilot scheme in Athy

✅ Sallins €25,000 to
support the establishment of a ‘Cycle Café’ to promote cycling and provide cyclists and cycling groups with a ‘pit stop’

✅ Portarlington, Co. Laois €22,500
Modification and enhancement of the public realm to comply with social distancing and to encourage increased footfall in the public realm.
