Tues Lunch Sport: Roli Appointed Moorefield Manager; Man City Play Burnley Tonight

Moorefield have named Roli Sweeney as their new senior football manager..

He announced his retirement from playing at the weekend and succeeds Ross Glavin who has joined Jack O’Connor’s county management team.

Roli represented Kildare for over a decade.  Following that, he was a selector with Niall Carew at Waterford and Sligo, and also a selector with Cian O’Neill.

He played in his 13th county senior football final this year, unfortunately suffering a serious knee injury in the drawn game.

Roli will have two other club stalwarts Ian Lonergan and Patrick Murray as selectors

Dublin have a County Convention on December 12th and hope to have their new senior football manager confirmed by then.

Pat Gilroy and Dessie Farrell are among the leading contenders.

In the Premier League this evening:

Champions Manchester City will go level with second-placed Leicester City if they win at Burnley.

Crystal Palace host Bournemouth.

Reigning champion Ronnie O'Sullivan returns to the table today at the UK Championship in York.

The 5-time world champion is playing Thailand’s Noppon Saengkham in the last 32 from 1pm.

Mark Selby plays fellow Englishman Martin O'Donnell at the Barbican in the evening session from 7pm.

Today’s racing is in Dundalk from five to two.
