A contract, connected with the €30m construction of the Athy Southern Distributor Road, has been awarded.

Kildare County Council tendered the removal of rails and sleepers on part of the route, together with their transportation to the CIE Depot in Portloaise.
The contract also includes levelling, filling, and land, from which the sleepers have been removed.
It has been award to Stephen Byrne Plant Hire & Civil Engineering Contractors.
