Liverpool/Spurs/Man City in Champions League Action & Rob Heffernan Athlete of the Year

Liverpool can secure their place in the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time in nine years this evening.

The Reds are home to Spartak Moscow, where victory will hand the Merseysiders top spot in Group E.

Manchester City and Spurs m will win their Pools whatever happens tonight.

City are away to Shakhtar Donetsk.

Spurs play APOEL Nicosia in Wembley.


Robbie Brady could be facing a six month spell on the sidelines.

The Dubliner torn a tendon during Saturday's defeat to Leicester and will require knee surgery.

The news comes on the same day Brady was nominated for the Premier League player of the month award, along with Liverpool’s Mo Salah, Man City’s Raheem Sterling and Manchester Utd’s Ashley Young.

Jordi Murphy's transfer to Ulster has been confirmed.

The Leinster back row will join on a two year deal at the end of the season.

The 26 year old has 18 Ireland caps.

In a year when he placed 8th in the 50-kilometre walk at the World Championships, Rob Heffernan was today named Irish Athlete of The Year.

And after her 100-metre gold at the European Junior Championships, Gina Akpe Moses was named Under-20 Athlete of the Year.
