: 12/06/2018 - 17:31

Johnny McCaffrey has announced his retirement from intercounty hurling.

The Lucan Sarsfields club man lifted the Bob O'Keefe Cup as Dublin captain in 2013 - ending a 52-year wait for a Leinster Hurling title in the capital.

McCaffrey made his senior debut in 2006 and also won a league title in 2011.

In a statement - the midfielder thanked Anthony Daly for getting the Dubs 'back competing at the top table.'

He also thanked Pat Gilroy for getting Dublin hurling 'back on track over' the last 12 months.
