Mohamed Salah has been shortlisted for the Best Forward award in last season's Champions League.
The Egypt international scored 11 goals on the way to the final in Kiev, where he went off injured as Liverpool lost 3-1 to Real Madrid.
Also nominated is Cristiano Ronaldo, now with Juventus and Barcelona's Lionel Messi.
Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne is nominated in the Best Midfielder category, along with Real Madrid pair Toni Kroos and Luka Modric .
New Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker could also be named as the Champions League's Best Goalkeeper for his performances at former club Roma; also nominated is Madrid's Keylor Navas and Gianluigi Buffon of Juventus - now at Paris St Germain.
The Best Defender award will go to Real Madrid, as Marcelo, Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane are the three nominees.
The nominees were chosen by coaches and journalists, with the winners announced during the draw for this season's group stage on 30 August.
The Europa League does not have individual position awards, but will select a Player of the Tournament, when the group stage for that competition s made on August 31sti.
Athletico Madrid's Diego Godin and Antoine Griezmann, along with Dimitri Payet are the three nominated.
