The couple at the centre of the controversy regarding their departure from the St. Michael's Parish Church Choir in Athy are to return to church music duty tomorrow evening at 6pm mass.
Following extensive coverage of the issue on Kfm over the last two days Jacinta O’Donnell and Geraldine Flanagan have confirmed their return.
Jacinta has spoken exclusively on this afternoon’s Kildare Focus programme.
Athy solicitor Frank Taaffe and local Athy Community College Principal, Richard Daly both expressed their support for the couple on the programme.
The controversy arose when the couple stepped down from their choral duties in the church, which they said was due to pressure by local catholic activist Anthony Murphy, whose view is that gay people should not have leadership roles in the catholic church.
Tomorrow evening's 6pm mass is to mark the retirement of local priest Fr. Tim Hannon.
