Dublin City Council is facing mounting pressure to explain reports criminals were paid 'protection money' to allow council houses be built.
The High Court was yesterday told the money was handed over to stop anti-social behaviour on sites in the west of the city.
Three firms, who were delivering the homes for the council, were handing over between 12 and 15 hundred euro a week to stop attacks on workers the court heard.
Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy says DCC is investigating the matter and will report back to him;
