At the European Athletics Championships last night, Thomas Barr smashed his seasonal best time to win a bronze medal in the 400 metres hurdles.

Its Ireland’s first ever sprint medal in the 80 year’s history of the championships.

Ciara Mageean will be in action in the 1500 metres heats this morning.

Phil Healy runs in the heats of the 200 metres.
 

 

Cork City lost 2-nil to Rosenborg in the first leg of their Europa League third round qualifier at Turners Cross last night.

 

The new Premier League season kicks off at Old Trafford this evening.

Manchester United get their bid to win a first league title since 2013 underway at home to 2016 champions Leicester City.
