Ciara Mageean secured her place in the 1500 metres final, while Phil Healy qualified for the 200 metres semi finals.

Mageean will return to the track tomorrow following a comfortably second place finish in her heat.

Manchester United and Leicester City kick off the new Premier League season at Old Trafford tonight.

The Red Devils will be hoping an opening win lift the mood following a disappointing transfer window and a disastrous pre season.

Roy Hodgson has signed up for another year in management.

The 71 year old has agreed a 12 month contract extension with Crystal Palace.

The former England boss is heading towards his 43rd year in football management.

On 1 under par, the Offaly man is 5 shots behind the leader Gary Woodland.

The All Ireland Ladies Football semi final between Cork and Donegal has been put back a week.

It alleviates a fixtures-clash for dual players Libby Coppinger and Hannah Looney.

The game was due to take place on the same day as the Rebels All Ireland Camogie semi final against Tipperary.

It will now take place on the 25th August.
