Athy & Newbridge Homeowners Could Be Hardest Hit By Property Tax Increase.

: 01/11/2019 - 11:40

Home-owners in Athy and Newbridge are facing sharp increases in the Property Tax bills because of house price increase

An analysis conducted by The Irish Independent shows that households of average in both towns were are paying €90 a year.

That's based on a valuation in 2013, the year the LPT was introduced.

The average value of homes in Newbridge and Athy was then €100,000.

That's jumped to €275,000 and €174,000, respectively.

That means LPT bills in Athy could go to €315 and, in Newbridge, to €495.

The Irish Independent is also forecasting, if the current system remains, increases in property tax bills in: Celbridge, Naas and Monasterevin, but not in Kildare Town or the Curragh.
