A garda in Kildare town was assaulted last night.
The Probationer Garda was headbutted in the face at the Garda Station in Kildare.
The garda sustained a concussion and was taken to Naas General Hospital, where they were kept overnight.
A man has been detained and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
Speaking to Kfm, Superintendent of Kildare Martin Walker said that this follows an assault on two gardaí at Naas Court House jail, where they were bitten.
Both gardaí are back on duty and undergoing preventative treatment.
Superintendent Walker added that there is a high attrition rate in South Kildare at the moment.
This is because of members being off sick or on desk duties due to injuries sustained while on duty.
