In breaking sports news this lunchtime , long serving Kildare footballer Eamon Callaghan has announced his retirement from inter-county football.
In a statement posted on his twitter account this lunchtime the Nass clubman thanked all the players and mangers he had played with and worked under in his 17 years inter county career.
In his post, Callaghan also thanked his family, friends and Kildare followers for their support throughout his inter-county career.
Finishing his post the popular player said he was now looking forward to supporting Kildare in the years to come.
The first of the All-Ireland Football semi-finals takes place this evening between Dublin and Galway at 5pm.
It's the first Championship meeting between the two sides since 1983, and Galways first final 4 appearance in 17 years.
