Friday Lunch Sport: World Rugby Assurance Re Fukuoka Pitch for Ireland/Samoa Game; Busy Kildare GAA championship Weekend Begins This Evening.

World Rugby has issued a statement to say that the surface at the Fukuoka Stadium where Ireland play Samoa tomorrow has been re-laid

The statement expresses confidence that the pitch 'will perform superbly'.

Restoration work was done on the pitch after the France v USA match.

The Group D match between Australia and Georgia is underway in Shizuoka.

Australia lead 10-3

Scotland have made 12 changes for their crucial Rugby World Cup match with Japan on Sunday.

However, while there is a lot of rotation from the Russia game, there are just two changes from the victory over Samoa in their second group game.

Scrum-half Greig Laidlaw returns to captain the side.

There is doubt whether the match will go ahead though, with a decision to be taken on Sunday after the impact of a typhoon is assessed.

The Republic of Ireland soccer squad will train at the match venue in Georgia later ahead of tomorrow's Euro 2020 qualifier.

England can book their place at Euro 2020 this evening.

Gareth Southgate's side would qualify for next summer's finals by winning away in the Czech Republic.
