Woman Gives Birth To Baby Girl On Commuter Train, In Kildare Yesterday.

: 12/06/2019 - 09:31
A baby girl made a surprise arrival on the Galway to Dublin train in Kildare yesterday.
Her mother went in to labour about the 15.05 train as it passed through the county.
It stopped at Kildare Town station at 5pm, and fellow passengers, including an American nurse, and Irish nurse, came to her aid.
Irish Rail staff sectioned off the carriage.
A third woman called for an ambulance before a fourth passenger, Dr Alan Devine, delivered the infant.
The ambulance crew arrived just after the birth and mother and baby were brought to The Coombe Hospital.
The train was stopped at Kildare Town for around and hour and a half, and continued on its journey.
Mother and baby are understood to be doing well.
