Listen: Businessman Says The Authorites Has "Ruined" Naas Main Street.

: 06/13/2018 - 12:29

A Kildare businessman says authorities have "ruined" Naas Main Street.

Donal Curran opened Donal's, a discount store, there in 1986.

The network has grown to include outlets in Newbridge, Arklow and Gorey.

The Naas shop closed last year and, as Mr. Curran is retiring, the Newbridge outlet will shut on Saturday.

Mr. Curran, speaking to Kildare Today, says he should have closed the Naas shop in 2014.

He attributes the need to do so to planning decisions made by Naas Town Council, Kildare County Council and An Bord Pleanala.

Outlets in Gorey and Arklow are to continue to trade.
