Gardai have issued a special appeal to the Polish community in Cork for information on the murder of Mikolaj Wilk.
The 35-year old gardener was attacked by a gang with machetes who entered his Ballincollig home last Sunday morning.
His wife is recovering from slash injuries she sustained in the attack and her family have flown to Cork to be by her hospital bedside.
She told gardai that the attackers spoke in English and detectives are examining a local link to the murder after forensic tests showed the getaway car had been bought in Cork.
Polish chaplain Fr Piotr Galus says the special appeal from gardai might shed some light on the matter..
