Beef Crisis Talks Expected To Take Place On Saturday.

: 09/13/2019 - 13:58

Talks are expected to take place between the Department of Agriculture, farmers and meat factories tomorrow in an effort to resolve the long running beef dispute.

An intensive behind the scenes effort is underway to get all the main players to the talks table tomorrow after Monday's scheduled talks at Backweston in Celbridge failed when Meat Industry Ireland pulled out.

The push for a round table comes as the owners of C&D foods in Longford say they may pursue damages against two named individuals over blockades at their premises.

187 people have been laid off at the Pet food plant and the owners say a further 425 jobs are under threat, despite the fact that they use just 5 per cent beef products.
