O'Neill Confident & Kildare Scoreboard 6.25pm Reviews Kildare Weekend Action Including Moorefield Win

Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill says his squad is well prepared to go to extra-time against Denmark tomorrow.

The squad only returned to Dublin in the early hours of yesterday morning, but O'Neill says they're used to coping with quick turnarounds.

Martin O'Neill has also paid tribute to Liam Miller, the former Ireland, Manchester United and Celtic midfielder who is battling cancer in the United States.

Miller was given his Celtic debut by O'Neill.

Italy are 90-minutes away from missing a first World Cup finals since 1958.

They trail Sweden by a goal to nil heading into the second leg of their playoff in Milan.

Kick off at the San Siro is at 7.45.

Keith Earls has returned to Munster to rehab the hamstring injury that forced him to miss Saturday's win over the Springboks.

Prop John Ryan has also returned to the province to treat a calf problem.

Back rows Tommy O'Donnell and Dan Leavy will again miss this week's game with Fiji, which kicks off at 5.30pm.

Jordi Murphy and Sean Reidy have been added to the squad.


England pair Owen Farrell and Maro Itoje , All Blacks pair Beauden Barrett and Rieko Ioane  .

and Australia's Israel Folau  have been nominated for World Rugby's Player of the Year award.


Joe Kernan has called up a replacement for the injured Pearce Hanley for Saturday's second International Rules test with Australia.

Monaghan midfielder Darren Hughes is on his way down under after Hanley was ruled out of the game in Perth with a hand injury.

Ireland trail their hosts by 10-points following Saturday's defeat in Adelaide.


County senior champions Moorefield will play Wicklow’s Rathnew in the Leinster semi final in Aughrim in two weeks time.  Yesterday Rathnew beat Dublin champions St. Vincents.

The county board has confirmed next weekend’s Tony Donohoe Under 21 football fixtures.

On Saturday in Hawkfield:

Under 21 C Semi Final Newtown Gaels V Sallins at 4pm, followed by the Under 21 B Semi Final Rathangan V Carbury at 5:30

On Sunday, in St Conleth’s Park

Under 21 A final:  Athy vs Sarsfields at 2.15, preceded by the Under 21 D Final Ardclough vs Milltown at 12:30
