Kildare's electorate of in excess of 140,000 people will go to the polls on Saturday, February 8th.
This will be the first Saturday ballot since the foundation of the State; the most recent General Election ballot not on a weekday was in 1918.
This time out, there are 8 seats up for grabs in both Kildare constituencies, following the publication of the Boundary Commission report in 2017.
In General Election 2016, there were four seats available in North Kildare; that's unchanged for GE2020.
In South Kildare during the last election, there were three seats available.
The constituency has been expanded to a four seater, because of population changes.
However, as a sitting TD there, Fianna Fáil's Seán O'Fearghail, has served as Ceann Comhairle of the 32nd Dáil, he is returned, automatically, to the 33rd Dáil, and so, there are 3 seats to contest in the constituency.
