14,446 new homes, 985 in Kildare, were completed las year, that's an increase of almost 50 percent on 2016.
According to new figures from the CSO, 58 percent were made of housing estates, 14 percent were apartments and 28 percent were single homes.
In Kildare, 786 homes were in estates and 169 were one-off properties.
The number of new homes had declined from 6,994 in 2011 to a low of 4,575 in 2013.
