A spending review has found the Fair Deal nursing home scheme is financially stable.
Figures released by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform show 8,725 people were approved for funding in 2018, compared to 8,168 people the year before.
That represents a 7 per cent increase.
The review also says the target of maintaining the wait time for funding approval, at no more than 4 weeks, has been consistently achieved since 2015.
