: 09/15/2020 - 13:18

People will be allowed to attend sporting events in limited numbers under government's new 'Living with Covid' plan announced this afternoon.

From tomorrow, 200 spectators will be permitted into venues which would usually have the capacity to host crowds of 5,000 or more.

Smaller grounds will be able to admit 100 people while indoor events will be limited to 50.

The plan also says that specific guidance can be developed for very large purpose built stadia.

Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish has signed a new five-year contract with the club.

He had been linked with a move to Manchester United several times this year.

Grealish played a key role in keeping Villa in the Premier League last season, including scoring the goal on the final day to ensure they avoided relegation.

Elsewhere, Villa are one of four Premier League clubs involved in second round matches of the Carabao Cup later.

They're away to Burton Albion at 7:45 - while at the same time Crystal Palace are away to Bournemouth.

At 7:30 Newcastle host Blackburn and West Ham entertain Charlton.

Livingston and Anthony Stokes have agreed to terminate the player's contract with the club.

The former Sunderland, Celtic and Hibernian striker only joined the Scottish Premiership side earlier in the summer.

But the club say Stokes is struggling to adapt to training on the artificial surface at their stadium and hasn't been able to get fit.

Ireland's Sam Bennett headed into Stage 16 of the Tour de France with a 45 point lead over Peter Sagan in the battle for the Green Jersey.

The riders are cycling 164 kilometres from La Tour-de-Pin to Villard-de-Lans today.

Connacht Rugby have confirmed that Ann Heneghan has been elected as the province's new president.

The Mayo native is the first woman to be appointed to the position at any of the Irish provinces.

She stepped up from junior vice-president of Connacht in 2018 to the senior vice-president role last year.

Heneghan is also a judicial officer for World Rugby.

Lewis Hamilton won't be investigated by F1's governing body for wearing a T-shirt at the Tuscan GP about the shooting of Breonna Taylor.

The world champion wore it over his racesuit before the race and again on the podium.

It featured the words 'Arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor'.

She was shot by police during a drug raid in Kentucky in March.
