Gardai have apologised to a woman more than 30 years after they wrongly accused her of murdering a baby in Co Kerry.
Baby John was found stabbed to death on White Strand in Cahirciveen in April 1984.
25 year old Joanne Hayes was arrested and confessed to the baby’s murder but later withdrew it.
A DNA test has now conclusively proven Joanne Hayes is not the baby's mother.
Supt Flor Murphy says she's accepted their apology.
Gardai are now trying to figure out who Baby John was and who his parents are.
They have launched a fresh appeal for information and believe the answers lie in South Kerry.
Detective Chief Superintendent Walter O’Sullivan is with the Serious Crime Review Team.
