Today's heavy snowfall is easing and temperatures are rising.
A status orange snow and ice warning for the east of the country is due to be lifted by 6pm today.
A severe weather plan has been activated in Kildare following continuing snowfall in the county.
Kildare County Council's Severe Weather Assessment Team met at 10.00 this morning to discuss and analyse the current and forecasted weather conditions.
The Severe Weather Assessment Team will re-convene this evening to plan operations overnight and early tomorrow.
Meanwhile a yellow snow-ice alert remains in place for the rest of the country until 9am tomorrow.
