Thurs Lunch Update: Leinster's Nick McCarthy Transferring to Munster; Peamount & Wexford Into FAI Women’s Final

: 10/18/2018 - 12:56

Leinster scrum half Nick McCarthy will join Munster at the end of the season on a two year deal.

The 23 year old follows Joey Carbery.

McCarthy made 30 appearances for Leinster and came off the bench during Friday's Champions Cup victory over Wasps.

Munster have also announced contract extensions for Tommy O’Donnell, Chris Farrell, Chris Cloete and James Cronin and Neil Cronin.

Munster play Gloucester this weekend.

Chris Ashton will make first start for Sale in Saturday's Challenge Cup match against Connacht at the AJ Bell Stadium.

The former Saracens and Toulon wing comes into the back line as one of five changes from the side that beat Perpignan last week.

=========
Wasps number eight Nathan Hughes has been banned for six weeks and will miss three of England's four autumn Tests.

Hughes' disciplinary hearing - following his citing for punching during a Gallagher Premiership game against Gloucester on 6 October - was adjourned after the forward tweeted during the initial sitting.

Hughes, who didn’t play against Leinster last weekend, tweetedted "what a joke" on October 10th before swiftly deleting the post.

Republic of Ireland international Denise O'Sullivan has signed for Australian club Canberra United.

The 24 year old Cork striker is heading down under on a one year deal as the team's prestigious guest player.

It follows a successful spell in America, where O'Sullivan was named Most Valuable Player while helping North Carolina Courage to a league title.

=========
Peamount United will play Wexford Youths in this season's FAI Women's Cup final.

A Katrina Parrock goal handed Wexford a 1-nil win over last year's beaten finalists UCD Waves last night.

2010 winners Peamount booked their place in the Aviva Stadium decider with a 2-1 win over Shelbourne at Tolka Park.
