The Housing Minister has compared 'co-living' accommodation to a 'trendy boutique hotel'.
It's one of the measures the government is encouraging in order to deal with the housing crisis.
A decision has yet to be made on a planning application for a facility in Dun Laoghaire in Dublin.
Developers Bartra Capital propose to charge 1,300 euro a month for a private room.
Those living there would have to share a kitchen and living space.
