A Clane/Maynooth councillor says that the number of housing units planned for North Kildare is not sustainable.
Social Democrats Councillor Aidan Farrelly has raised concerns about the 1,299 homes have been submitted to An Bord Pleanála for permission in North Kildare "without any planning for infrastructure and public services".
Two developments in Naas, on the Devoy Link Road and at Millennium Park, one in Clane and another on Mill Street in Maynooth could see 749 homes and 550 appartments constructed.
All are in various stages of the planning application process.
Farrelly said that there is no planning on transport, school places or other services to support potentially 3,000 new residents and that the county is already "working at a deficit" in this regard.
