Tues pm Sport: Two Limerick Hurlers Sent Home from New York Tour; Ireland’s Euro Opponents Might be Confirmed Tonight.

: 11/19/2019 - 17:04

Limerick GAA has confirmed it has opened disciplinary proceedings against two members of their senior hurling panel who were sent home early from New York.

The 2018 All-Ireland champions were in America last weekend for the Super 11s tournament.

A video is circulating on-line which allegedly shows one of their squad involved in a street brawl with another man.

It's also alleged that the other panel member that was sent home filmed the incident.

The GAA club management appointments continue in the county.

Luke Dempsey takes the reins at Johnstownbride.  He played with the club for 10 years.

He formerly managed Carlow, Westmeath, Moorefield and St. Loman’s Mullingar

Earlier this week, former Moorefield and Kildare player Frank Hanniffy took over at Raheens.

Another former Kildare star, Castlemitchell’s Tadgh Fennin is the new St. Laurences manager.  He was with Donard in Wicklow this year.

The Republic of Ireland's Euro 2020 playoff pathway will become more clear based on events in Group E tonight.

Should Wales win at home to Hungary, then Ireland will be away to Slovakia.

If there's a draw in Cardiff, Mick McCarthy's side will travel to Wales.

While Bosnia could await with a Hungarian victory.

Northern Ireland finish their campaign away to Germany this evening.

They’re also heading for the play-offs

Troy Parrott will be involved for the Republic of Ireland under-21s tonight against Sweden.

Leixlip’s Nathan Collins and Celbridge’s Conor Masterson are both in the squad

Stephen Kenny's side top Group 1 ahead of tonight's game in Tallaght where kick-off is at 8.

Luis Enrique has been re-appointed manager of Spain.

The former Barcelona manager resigned in June to care for his nine-year-old daughter.

She died from bone cancer in August.

Spain have qualified for the Euro 2020 finals.

Connacht scrum half Kieran Marmion has signed a three year contract extension with the province until 2023.

There had been speculation linking him with Saracens after being omitted from Ireland's Rugby World Cup squad.

Ulster out-half Billy Burns has signed a new two-year contract.

The province will be without prop Jack McGrath and lock Sam Carter for a number of weeks as both require surgery.

Today’s racing was in Fairyhouse.
