A councillor says among the uses that should be considered for use of Bord na Mona's Kilberry site is apple growing.
Fianna Fáil Cllr., Brian Dooley, says he has spoken to the MD of Bulmers, who says the firm imports around 40% of apples used in cider production.
Newbridge headquartered Bord na Mona has ceased peat production on all of its lands, and will, from 2024, cease making briquettes.
Cllr., Dooley says apple growing aside, the site has considerable potential:
Cllr. Dooley joined Clem Ryan on this morning's edition of Kildare Today on his motions before the January meeting of the Athy Municipal District.
