Staff who are losing their jobs when Coca Cola transfers its operations from Athy to Mayo have been awarded a “winding down” fee of €10,000.
Coca-Cola announced in May that it was to close its Athy plant, on a phased basis, between now and December 2019.
Production is being moved to Ballina in Co Mayo
82 people in Athy will lose their jobs, and 43 others were offered transfers to the Ballina factory.
Fora,ie reports that Siptu, which represents many of the affected workers, referred a disagreement on payments between the union and the company to the Labour Court
This lump sum in addition to redundancy payments.
The Labour Court's recommendation is not binding, and SIPTU is to ballot its members on acceptance.
