Kildare County Council says lands in the vicinity of the graveyard at Confey, Leixlip are being examined for an extension to the existing site.
Discussions are ongoing with the landowners regarding the lands' acquisition and their suitability for use as a graveyard.
This comes after Fianna Fáil Cllr. Bernard Caldwell proposed a motion requesting an update on the extension to the cemetery.
Separately, Kildare County Council, in response to a motion brought forward by Independent Cllr. Íde Cussen, says there are no immediate plans to provide a graveyard in Ardclough.
