
Higher doses of vitamin D should be taken to protect against Covid-19, according to a medical group.
The Covit-D Consortium will present evidence to today's Health Committee, on which sits Kildare North Fine Gael TD, Bernard Durkan.
The consortium will show those who use the supplement are three times less likely to contract the disease.
It will also detail studies that show admission to ICU with Covid is eight times more likely among people with insufficient vitamin D levels.
Professor Rose Anne Kenny from Trinity College Dublin says government needs to consider recommending the supplement:
