The Vincentian Partnership for Social Justice is calling for an increase in social wefare payments to households with teenagers.
The partnership says it costs, on average, €40 more a week to raise a teenager than a younger child.
It says Dept. of Social Welfare payments, such as the back to school allowance, recognise this.
However, it says, other forms of payment do not.
Senior Research Associate at the partnerhship, Robert Thornton, has been speaking to Kildare Today.
