A Kildare TD, and member of the PAC, says now is not the right time to examine expenditure at the Office of the President.
The Public Accounts Committee is poised to begin such a assessment tomorrow.
However, members are split: Chair, Sean Fleming is in favour of the examination, and Alan Kelly is not.
Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar and leader of the Fianna Fáil Party, Michael Martin, have questioned the timing, given that a presidential election will take place on October 26th.
While the Secretary General at the Dept. of the Taoiseach has told the PAC that its inquiry is, potentially, unconstitutional.
Kildare North Social Democrat TD & PAC member, Catherine Murphy, says says the timing is of concern to her.
