Kildare Together for Yes says it is "deeply disappointed" that a motion on the 8th amendment is not being debated at this afternoon's meeting of Kildare County Council.
The motion was lodged by Independent Kildare/Newbridge Cllr. Joanne Pender and Community Solidarity Cllr. in Celbridge/Leixlip, Brendan Young.
They say “The Mayor, Cllr Martin Miley, The Chairperson of the Protocol Committee Cllr Darren Scully and the Chief Executive Peter Carey decided it is 'potentially controversial' and won't allow it go before the full Council.”
Kildare Together for Yes says "The motion proposed would have allowed both sides to express their opinion, in a respectful and balanced manner, on whether the 8th Amendment should be removed from the Constitution."
