The assistant director who handed actor Alec Baldwin the gun that killed a crew member on the 'Rust' set, says he hopes Halyna Hutchins death will lead to change in the industry.

Ms. Hutchins was shot on set in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she was working as director of photography on the movie.

63 year-old Baldwin fired a prop gun, which fatally wounded Ms Hutchins & injured director Joel Souza.

Court records show assistant director David Halls announced "cold gun", to indicate the weapon was safe before handing the firearm to Baldwin.

Speaking to the New York Post Mr. Halls said 42 year-old Hutchins' death should lead to a re-evaluation of practices.
